How I Found My (Bosom) Buddy
Leslie and I have worked as backup for each other for quite some time for lactation clients. We have the same ideas and thoughts on lactation. We both believe it is so important to see a client as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, when the client calls for assistance. Babies do not wait to eat and we all know a hungry baby is not a fun thing for anyone involved!
Over the past few months I met with several amazing agencies in the middle Tennessee area as well as other amazing doulas trying to find my home in the birth and baby world. After all, one is a lonely number and I had been doing this on my own for about a year and a half. We are fortunate in our area to be surrounded by passionate, professional birth workers for labor, postpartum, placenta encapsulation, and other specialties. The time spent getting to know each of these women was priceless. I knew I had surrounded myself with professionals of passion and compassion; however the fit for me personally did not seem to fit quite right, like an oval peg into a circle hole, close but not exact.
When chatting with Leslie one afternoon about lactation, as we often do, the idea came up to work as more than backups for each other. Between the two of us we offer many services and can offer our clients even more so it just worked. After a few conversations and an afternoon of brainstorming we became buddies and like that, Lactation Destination (my business) merged with Bosom Buddy. It was very Vegas style but definitely a circle peg into a circle hole. We are thrilled to now be able to offer a full service menu to our clients.
