BIRTH DOULAS The labor doula's primary role is to support the mother through all mental and physical aspects of the pregnancy and childbirth. Our professionally trained doula team meets with the mother and partner for two prenatal appointments. During these appointments, the doulas will discuss birth preferences and can assist in creating a birth plan. Throughout the pregnancy, the doula is available for support and questions via phone and email. From the time of hire your doulas provides on-call status for you. Once labor begins and you decide it is time for your doula to join you, she will remain by your side until your baby is earth side. Bosom Buddy serves clients at St. Thomas, Centennial, Vanderbilt, Baby & Co and Williamson Medical Center in Nashville/Middle Tennessee.

LACTATION Our lactation professionals, IBCLC and CLC, are available at any time throughout the breastfeeding journey, whether it is at one day or one year. Newborn sessions are tailored to the mother’s needs and address concerns regarding latch, positions, and more. Our counselors are trained for various lactation situations, including multiples. Bosom Buddy offers in home consultations throughout Davidson and Williamson Counties.

Return to work sessions are available to help reduce the stress and allow mothers to more easily transition to pumping and bottle feeding while working. Sessions include equipping you with bottle feeding information, pumping schedule assessment, and more.

Prenatal lactation education can be key to help parents meet their breastfeeding goals. It establishes realistic expectations, demonstrates holds/positions, and provides instruction on how to achieve a deep and proper latch. Parents and mothers complete the class feeling prepared and confident to successfully breastfeed their baby and know who to call when assistance is needed postpartum. Group classes or individual in-home sessions are available for prenatal lactation education.
